About This Text
Author: Immanuel of Rome
Immanuel of Rome, known primarily for his poetry, also wrote commentaries on most or all of the 24 books of the Bible, though most of these works remain in manuscript. His commentary on Proverbs was one of the first Jewish texts printed in Napoli, part of a three-volume collection containing all the books of Ketuvim (Writings), each with a different commentary. Immanuel’s commentary emphasizes linguistic and philosophical interpretations and often builds on earlier sources, though they are rarely cited by name.
