(5) And I am God continually; I am the Lord, I change not (Mal. 3:6)
(יב)...וְכֵן הוּא אוֹמֵר (ירמיה ז יט) "הַאֹתִי הֵם מַכְעִסִים". הֲרֵי הוּא אוֹמֵר (מלאכי ג ו) "אֲנִי יקוק לֹא שָׁנִיתִי". וְאִלּוּ הָיָה פְּעָמִים כּוֹעֵס וּפְעָמִים שָׂמֵחַ הָיָה מִשְׁתַּנֶּה. וְכָל הַדְּבָרִים הָאֵלּוּ אֵינָן מְצוּיִין אֶלָּא לַגּוּפִים הָאֲפֵלִים הַשְּׁפָלִים שׁוֹכְנֵי בָּתֵּי חֹמֶר אֲשֶׁר בֶּעָפָר יְסוֹדָם אֲבָל הוּא בָּרוּךְ הוּא יִתְבָּרַךְ וְיִתְרוֹמַם עַל כָּל זֶה:
(12)...It is, moreover said: "Do they provoke Me" (Jer.7,19), whereas it has been said: "For I the Lord change not" (Mal. 3,6 6); if He could sometimes be angry and sometimes mirthful, He would be subject to changes. Indeed, such and all kindred attributes are not present in any save in darkened, lowly bodies, inhabitants of houses of clay, whose origin is of dust; but He, blessed is He! in blessings is exalted above all this.
(א) יקוק איש מלחמה. פירוש גם במדת הרחמים עשה מלחמה, ולא שישתנה מפני זה חס ושלום:
Hashem is a man of war. This means that so too with the middah (aspect) of mercy he makes war, not that he changes because of this, Chas V'Shalom.
(א) כי יקרא קן צפור לפניך...וכי מה איכפת לו להקב"ה בין שוחט בהמה ואוכל או נוחר ואוכל כלום אתה מועילו או כלום אתה מזיקו או מה איכפת לו בין אוכל טהורות או אוכל טמאות...אין התועלת לו רק שנדע אנחנו האמת ונזכה בו עד שנהיה ראויים להיות מגן עלינו כי דבורנו וזכרנו בנפלאותיו מאפס
(1) If the nest of a bird chances to be in front of you:...."And so what does it matter to the Holy One, blessed be He, whether one slaughters an animal and eats or stabs [it] and eats - do you benefit Him at all or damage Him at all; or what does He care whether one eats pure things or eats impure things...there is no gain for Him - just that we know the truth and merit through it, until we become fit that He should protect us. As our speech and memory of His wonders are considered nothing and void for Him.
(יא)...וְאֵינוֹ מִשְׁתַּנֶּה שֶׁאֵין לוֹ דָּבָר שֶׁיִּגְרֹם לוֹ שִׁנּוּי....וְלֹא כַּעַס וְלֹא שְׂחוֹק וְלֹא שִׂמְחָה וְלֹא עַצְבוּת:
(11) ...nor is He undergoing any change as there is naught to cause any change in Him;...no sleep and no awakening, no anger and no laughter, no joy and no sadness...2Hagigah, 15a. C.
(א)...האש תתיך קצת הדברים ותקפיא קצתם ותבשל ותשרוף ותלבין ותשחיר...מי שלא ידע טבע האש חושב שיש בה ששה ענינים...אמנם אשר ידע טבע האש ידע שבאיכות אחת פועלת תפעל כל אלו הפעולות והיא - החום.:

(יא) וַתִּדֹּ֨ר נֶ֜דֶר וַתֹּאמַ֗ר יקוק צְבָא֜וֹת אִם־רָאֹ֥ה תִרְאֶ֣ה ׀ בָּעֳנִ֣י אֲמָתֶ֗ךָ וּזְכַרְתַּ֙נִי֙ וְלֹֽא־תִשְׁכַּ֣ח אֶת־אֲמָתֶ֔ךָ וְנָתַתָּ֥ה לַאֲמָתְךָ֖ זֶ֣רַע אֲנָשִׁ֑ים וּנְתַתִּ֤יו לַֽיקוק כָּל־יְמֵ֣י חַיָּ֔יו וּמוֹרָ֖ה לֹא־יַעֲלֶ֥ה עַל־רֹאשֽׁוֹ׃
(ב) ולכבודי בראתיו. כמו שאמר בוראך יעקב ויוצרך ישראל שהם מכירים ויודעים כי האל בראם וברא העולם והם מודים בזה והנה הם נבראים לכבוד הקל כי הם מודים בו ומודיעים שהשם ברא יצירת האדם:
Like they said he created Yaakov and formed Israel, that they recognize that God created them and created the world, and they admit it. And behold, they were created for the glory of God when admitting that God created the form of man

The very word התפלל, from which תפילה Hebrew word for prayer, is derived, originally meant to judge oneself. Tefillah is thus an honest attempt, in the presence of G-d, to get a true picture of one's self and to compare what it is with what it ought to be, in order to purify and strengthen one's spiritual and moral powers. The English word 'prayer' does not completely express this concept of tefillah because the literal meaning of the word to pray Le., to ask for something, only covers some kinds of tefillah...
