(8) And thou shalt tell thy son in that day, saying: It is because of that which the LORD did for me when I came forth out of Egypt.
Mishnah: We recall the exodus from Egypt during the nights said Rav Elazar ben Azarya "Behold, it is as if I am seventy years of age and I have not merited (to explain how it is) that it (the Exodus) should be said [recalled] at night, until Ben Zoma taught it is stated "so that you will recall the exodus from Egypt all the days of your life" "the days of your life" refers to the day time, "all the days of your life" comes to include the nights and the sages say "the days of your life" refers to this world, "all the days of your life" comes to include the days of the Messianic era.

See the Peri-Hadash in hilkhot cheroot shema who wrote extensively about these topics. "also, he said to him, that in that case it is always enough to simply think about the exodus, as it is stated "remember"... here one must speak the story as it is stated "and you shall say (teach)"... study the response of the Sha'agat Areyeh in the section on hilkhot Yetziat Mitzrayim who wrote extensively and concluded that that one does not fulfill their every day obligation with thought, it is only fulfilled with words. Everyday one must say that Hashem took us out of Egypt they needn't include the story. Here the details of the story and the miracles must be included...
