אין שאלת ’שלום‘ לחבירו בתשעה באב. והדיוטות שאינם יודעים ונותנים ’שלום‘ משיבים להם בשפה רפה ובכובד ראש:
One should not greet ‘Shalom’ to one’s friend on Tisha beAv. But if somebody doesn’t know, and says ‘Shalom’ anyway, respond to them, but in a serious and quiet voice.
(14) The old men are gone from the gate, The young men from their music.
(15) Gone is the joy of our hearts;
Our dancing is turned into mourning.
הֲשִׁיבֵ֨נוּ יְהוָ֤ה ׀ אֵלֶ֙יךָ֙ וְֽנָשׁ֔וּבָה
חַדֵּ֥שׁ יָמֵ֖ינוּ כְּקֶֽדֶם׃

Ḥaddeish yameinu kekedem
Bring us back, Eternal our God, to You, and let us come back;
Renew our days as before!
”...וצום השביעי... יהיה לבית יהודה לששון ולשמחה“ ...שיש שלום יהיו לששון ולשמחה
“...The fast of the seventh [month]... shall become times of joy and gladness to the house of Judah [the Jews]” (Zechariah 8:19). ...How so? When there is peace in the world, they will be times of joy and gladness.
