(1) All the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron and said, “We are your own flesh and blood. (2) Long before now, when Saul was king over us, it was you who led Israel in war; and the LORD said to you: You shall shepherd My people Israel; you shall be ruler of Israel.”

(3) All the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, and King David made a pact with them in Hebron before the LORD. And they anointed David king over Israel. (4) David was thirty years old when he became king, and he reigned forty years. (5) In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem he reigned over all Israel and Judah thirty-three years.

(7) But David captured the stronghold of Zion; it is now the City of David.

Though the word "Zion" appears approximately 150 times in the Tanakh, it does not appear at all in the Five Books of Moses, but is first mentioned in Second Samuel during the reign of King David.

It is found primarily in the prophecies of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Micha and Zechariah, and in the Books of Psalms and Lamentations.

(2) The precious children of Zion; Once valued as gold— Alas, they are accounted as earthen pots, Work of a potter’s hands!

Zion begins as a mountain, grows to the entire city of Jerusalem, eventually the entire country of Israel and the Jewish people as well.

Zion is the last, only known human city on the planet Earth. The city is the launching point for the resistance against the Machines that threaten their freedom.

Zion, a last human city of over 250,000 humans, is actually a massive series of caverns deep under the ruined planet's surface, close to the planet's core for warmth, power, and protection. To the understanding of the human government living there, the location of Zion is unknown to the Machines until when they found their way into it through the Dock. -
