"Seeking out Zion"

Does the Torah ever say it is important to advocate politically for Israel?

Take a look at the following verse together with the Gemara's explanation.

(17) But I will bring healing to you and cure you of your wounds, declares Hashem - though they called you “Outcast, That Zion whom no one seeks out."

She is Zion, there is none who care for her” (Jeremiah 30:17). This verse teaches that Jerusalem requires "seeking out."

How do you understand the requirement to remember Zion?

Next, take a look at the very last passuk of Megillat Esther. What meaning of "doresh" does it imply? When we apply it to the Gemara, what does it mean that we must "seek the welfare" of Tziyon?

(3) For Mordecai the Jew ranked next to King Ahasuerus and was highly regarded by the Jews and popular with the multitude of his brethren; he sought the good of his people and interceded for the welfare of all his kindred.

Finally, look at the final pesukim from Yirmiyahu. They follow right after the pesukim with which we began. What do they suggest about the greater significance of being "doresh Tziyon."

(18) Thus said the Lord: I will restore the fortunes of Jacob’s tents And have compassion upon his dwellings. The city shall be rebuilt on its mound, And the fortress in its proper place. (19) From them shall issue thanksgiving And the sound of dancers. I will multiply them, And they shall not be few; I will make them honored, And they shall not be humbled.
