The Pardes Center for Jewish Educators serves to strengthen Jewish day school education worldwide.

The Center’s Tefillah Education Initiative especially was initiated to help North American Jewish day schools structure and build a multiyear Tefillah curriculum. Initiative resources, summarized below and described in more detail online, is searchable by grade, prayer and lesson plan.

The Initiative 8 goals are:

• SKILLS: Students acquire ritual and liturgical skills to become active participants in Tefillah.

• LEADING: Students become leaders of their prayer community.

• HISTORY: Students understand historical development of Jewish prayer and prayer practice.

• CONTENT KNOWLEDGE: Students study siddur as a text, learning meaning and content of individual prayers.

• PERSONAL PRACTICE: Students be inspired to practice a continuing relationship with prayer.

• HASHEM: Students experience Tefillah as a personal relationship with Hashem.

• SELF-ACTUALIZATION: Students engage with Tefillah as important for personal growth, character development, and fulfillment of emotional needs.

• COMMUNITY: Students approach Tefillah as a significant means of connecting to the Jewish people and creating community.

PARDES INSTITUTE OF JEWISH STUDIES (https://www.pardes.org.il) is an open Jewish learning community, based in Jerusalem and with programs worldwide. The Pardes Institute empowers students with the knowledge and tools to take ownership of their Jewish experience.
