Babylonian Talmud, Ketubot 51b
Whenever the beginning [of sex] is under duress and the end is willing, even if she says to leave him alone, that she would have hired him had he not desired her – she is still permitted [to her husband]. (ie, it is still considered rape) What is the reason? Her desire overtook her.

Suggested Discussion Questions:

What does it mean for desire to overtake someone?

Do you agree with this ruling of the Rabbis?

What could have motivated them to rule this way?

Are there other acts that begin under duress and end willingly? Would the same rule apply?

Time Period: Rabbinic (Maccabees through the Talmud)
