Rambam, Mishneh Torah, Laws of Hiring 11:5
One who delays giving the salary of the employee until after the appointed time, even though they have already transgressed a positive and a negative commandment, must nonetheless give the employee the salary immediately. As long as one withholds the wages one violates the negative commandment of "Do not say to your fellow, 'Go and return, and tomorrow I will give'" (Proverbs 3:28). [AJWS translation]

Suggested Discussion Questions:

1. Why might one think that once you have delayed giving a salary to an employee you need not give the salary altogether?

2. How should workers be paid in a timely fashion today?
