צָנוּעַ m. (b. h.; צָנַע) retired, discreet, chaste, decorous. Nidd. 12ᵃ כל … נקרא צ׳ he who fulfils the words of the scholars is called discreet (pious). Y. Dem. VI, 25ᵈ top (ref. to צְנוּעֵי Mish. Dem. VI, 6) שהכשר נקרא צ׳ the worthy man is called tsanuʿa. Ber. 62ᵃ צ׳ בבית הכסא decent in his manners in the privy. Ib. צ׳ באורחותיו decorous in his ways; a. fr.—Pl. צְנוּעִים, צְנוּעִין. Cant.
