אֲרֵי הָא רִבּוֹן עַלְמָא יְיָ צְבָאוֹת מַעְדֵי מִירוּשְׁלֵם וּמִיהוּדָה סְמַךְ וּסְעֵיד כָּל סְמַךְ מֵיכַל וְכָל סְעֵיד מִשְׁתֵּי: For, behold, the Lord of the world, the Lord of hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of food, and the whole stay of water.
גִבָּר וּגְבַר עֲבֵיד קְרָב דַיַין וְסָפַר וּמִשְׁתָּאֵל וְסָב: The mighty man, and the man that maketh war, the judge, and the prophet, and the scribe, and the diviner, and the ancient,
רַב חַמְשִׁין וּנְסֵב אַפִּין וּמָלֵיךְ מֵילַךְ וַאֲמַר וּמִשְׁתְּמַע וְחַכִּים וְסוּכְלְתָן בְּעֵצָה: The captain of fifty, and the honourable man, and the counsellor, and he that commands, and he that obeyeth, and the wise in counsel.
וַאֲמַנֵי יַנְקַיָא פַּרְנָסֵיהוֹן וְחַלָשַׁיָא יִשְׁלְטוּן בְּהוֹן: And I will appoint sucklings to be their governors, and the weak shall rule over them.
וְיִתְגָרוּן עַמָא גְבַר בִּגְבַר וּגְבַר בְּחַבְרֵיהּ יִשְׁלְטוּן עוּלֵימַיָא בְּסָבָא וּדְשַׁיִט בִּדְיַקִיר: The nations shall wage war, man against man, and a man against his neighbour; children shall rule over the ancient, and the base over the honourable.
אֲרֵי יֵחוֹד גְבַר בַּאֲחוֹהִי מִזַרְעֲיַת בֵּית אֲבוּהִי לְמֵימַר כְּסוּ אִית לָךְ רַב תְּהֵא עֲלָנָא וּמַגְבִּיתָא הָדָא תְּהֵא תְּחוֹת יְדָךְ: For a man shall take hold of his brother, of the family of his father's house, saying, Thou hast clothing, be thou a ruler over us, and this ruin shall be under thy government.
יְתִיב בְּעִדָנָא הַהִיא לְמֵימָר לֵית אֲנָא כָשַׁר לְמֶהֱוֶי רֵישׁ וּבְבֵיתִי לֵית מָה דְאֵיכוּל וְלֵית מָה דְאִתְכַּסֵי לָא תְמַנוּנִי רַב בְּרֵישׁ כָּל עַמָא: He shall answer in that time, saying, I am not a proper person to become a chief, and in my house I have nothing that I could eat, and nothing wherewith I could clothe myself; appoint me not a chief over all this people.
אֲרֵי אִתְקִילוּ יַתְבֵי יְרוּשְׁלֵם וֶאֱנַשׁ יְהוּדָה גָלוּ אֲרֵי מַמְלֵל פּוּמְהוֹן וַאֲגַר עוֹבָדֵיהוֹן גְלַן קֳדָם יְיָ וּמַרְגְזִין קֳדָם יְקָרֵיהּ: Because the inhabitants of Jerusalem have stumbled, therefore the men of Judah shall go into captivity; surely the speech of their mouth and the wages of their works are revealed before the Lord, and they have provoked to anger His glory.
אִשְׁתְּמוֹדָעוּת אַפֵּיהוֹן בְּדִינָא אַסְהֵיד בְּהוֹן וַחֲטָאֵיהוֹן כִּסְדוֹמָאֵי קָבְלִין וְלָא מָנְעִין וַי לְנַפְשֵׁיהוֹן אֲרֵי גְרַמוּ דְתֵיתֵי לְהוֹן בִּישָׁא: The shew of their faces in judgment bears testimony against them, and they declare their sins as the Sodomites, and they restrain not. Woe unto them! for they have caused that evil should come upon them.
אֱמָרוּ לְצַדִיקָא טוֹבֵיכוֹן אֲרֵי פֵרַי עוֹבָדֵיהוֹן יִשְׁתַּלְמוּן: Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with you, for the fruits of their work shall be recompensed.
וַי לְרַשִׁיעַיָא דְעוֹבָדֵיהוֹן בִּישִׁין אֲרֵי גֻמְלָא דִידֵיהוֹן יִתְּתֵב לְהוֹן: Woe to the wicked, whose works are evil; because the reward of their hands shall be returned to them.
עַמִי דְסִרְכוֹהִי בַזְזְהוֹי כִמְעַלְלֵי לְכַרְמָא וּכְמָרֵי חוֹבָא שַׁלִיטוּ בֵּיהּ עַמִי מְשַׁבְּחָךְ אַטְעֲיוּךְ וְאוֹרַח שְׁבִילָךְ קִלְקִילוּ: As for my people, their oppressors plunder them, as those who glean the vineyard; and as usurers they rule over them. 0 my people, those that call thee blessed cause thee to err; and the way of thy path they have perverted.
עֲתִיד לְמֵדָן יְיָ וּמִתְגְלֵי לְמֶעֱבַּד פּוּרְעֲנוּת דִין מִן עַמְמַיָא: The Lord is ready to judge, and to reveal Himself to take vengeance of judgment of the nations.
יְיָ בְּדִינָא יֵעוֹל יַת סָבֵי עַמָא וְסַרְכוֹהִי וְאַתּוּן אֲנִסְתּוּן יַת עַמִי חֲטוֹף מַסְכְּנָא בְּבָתֵּיכוֹן: The Lord will enter into judgment with the elders of His people, and with their oppressors; because ye have robbed my people, the spoil of the poor is in your houses.
מַה לְכוֹן דְאַתּוּן מְמַסְכְּנִין יַת עַמִי וְאַפֵּי חֲשִׁיכַיָא מְבַלִין אַתּוּן וּמַיְתִין בְּדִינֵיהוֹן אֲמַר יְיָ אֱלֹהִים צְבָאוֹת: What mean ye, that ye impoverish my people and grind the faces of the poor? They are perishing in their contentions, saith the Lord, the God of hosts.'
וַאֲמַר יְיָ חֲלַף דְאִתְרַבְרְבָא בְנָת צִיוֹן וְאָזְלָן מְרִימָן צַוַאר וּמְסַרְבְּקָן עַיְנִין אָזְלָן וּבְפָּתְהָן מַקְפָן וּבְרַגְלֵהֶן מַרְגְזָן: And the Lord said, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and they are walking with stretched-forth necks, and they walk with their eyes painted, with their hair rolled up, and with their feet they excite lust.
וִישַׁעְבֵּיד יְיָ יִקְרַת בְּנָת צִיוֹן וַיְיָ יְקָרְהָן יַעֲדִי: And the Lord shall make servile the glory of the daughters of Zion, and the Lord shall remove their dignity.
בְּיוֹמָא הַהוּא יַעֲדִי יְיָ יַת תּוּשְׁבְּחַת דִמְסָנַיָא וּשְׁבִיסַיָא וְסִבְכַיָא: In that day the Lord will take away the ornament of their sandals and their cauls and head-nets;
עַנְקַיָא וְשֵׁירֵי יְדַיָא וַחֲנִיסְנְסַיָא: The necklaces, and the bracelets for the hands, and the long robes;
כְּלִילַיָא וְשֵׁירֵי רְגִלַיָא וְקִלְמִסְמְסַיָא וְקָדָשַׁיָא וַחֲלִיטָתָא: The crowns, the bracelets for the feet, the crisping-pin, and the ear-rings, and the ornament;
עִזְקָתָא וְטִלְטוּלַיָא: And the finger-rings, and the jewels;
כִּתּוּנַיָא וְשׁוֹשִׁיפַיָא לִבּוּרְנְקִיָא וּמַחְכַּיָא: The tunics, and the cloaks, and the wimples, and the stays;
וּמַחְזְיָתָא וְקַרְטְסַיָא וְכִתָּרַיָא וּכְבֵינָתָא: The mirrors, and the fine linen, and the crowns, and the veils.
וִיהֵי אֲתַר דַהֲוָאָה יָהֲבַן בּוּסְמִין יִתְמְסֵי אֲתַר דַהֲוָאָה אָסְרָן פְּסִיקַיָא יְהֵי רוּשְׁמִין דִמְחָא וַחֲלַף אַקָפּוּת פָּתָא גִזוּז רֵישׁ וַחֲלַף דַהֲוָאָה מְהַלְכִין בְּגֵיוָה יַסְרָן סַקִין דָא פּוּרְעֲנוּתָא תִּתְעֲבֵיד מִנְהוֹן אֲרֵי טְעָאָה בְשׁוּפְרְהוֹן: It shall come to pass, that in the place where they were giving forth sweet smells, there shall be putrefaction; and in the place where they were binding the girdles, shall be marks of smiting; and instead of plaited locks, baldness; and instead of their walking in pride, they shall bind on sackcloth; this vengeance shall be taken on them because they have committed fornication in their beauty.
שְׁפַר גִבָּרַיִךְ בְּחַרְבָא יִתְקַטְלוּן וְעָבְדֵי נִצְחָנֵיךְ בִּקְרָבָא: Thy beautiful men shall be killed by the sword, and thy heroes in the war.
וְיִצְדוּן וִיסוּפוּן תַּרְעֵי קִרְוָהָא וְתִּתְרוֹקִין אַרְעָא וְתֶחְרוֹב: And the gates of her city shall be laid desolate, and shall come to an end; and the land shall be laid waste, and shall be destroyed.
