אוריאן תליתאי - תורה נביאים וכתובים:
לעם תליתאי - כהנים לוים וישראלים:
על יד תליתאי - משה תליתאי לבטן מרים אהרן ומשה:
ביום תליתאי - לפרישה:
תחתית ההר - תחת ההר ממש: At the lowermost (tachatit) part of the mount: Literally under (tachat) the mount.
גיגית - קובא שמטילין בה שכר: Tub: A vat in which we put ale.
מודעא רבה - שאם יזמינם לדין למה לא קיימתם מה שקבלתם עליכם יש להם תשובה שקבלוה באונס: A substantial caveat: As if they are called to judgment [as to] why you (the Jews) did not fulfil what you have accepted upon yourselves, they have an answer: They accepted it under duress.
בימי אחשורוש - מאהבת הנס שנעשה להם: In the time of Ahasuerus: From love of the miracle that was done for them.
דין - תורה: Sentence: Torah.
בתחילה - קודם שאמרו ישראל נעשה ונשמע: At first: Before Israel said (Exodus 24:7), "we will do and we will hear."
יראה - שמא לא יקבלוה ויחזור העולם לתהו ובהו כדר"ל: Feared: Lest they would not accept it and the world will return to chaos and disorder, and like Resh Lakish.
ולבסוף - כשקבלוה: And in the end: When they accepted it.
יום הששי - מאי שנא דכתיב ה' ביום גמר מעשה בראשית: The sixth day: What is different, that it is written, "the," with the day of finishing the creation story?
