וּלְמשֶׁה אֲמַר סַק לִקֳדָם יְיָ אַתְּ וְאַהֲרֹן נָדָב וַאֲבִיהוּא וְשִׁבְעִין מִסָבֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְתִסְגְדוּן מֵרָחִיק: He [God] had said to Moshe, ‘Go up to [the Presence of] [before] Adonoy, you, Aharon, Nadav, Avihu, and seventy of the elders of [the B’nei] Yisrael, and prostrate yourselves at a distance.
וְיִתְקְרֵב משֶׁה בִלְחוֹדוֹהִי לִקֳדָם יְיָ וְאִנוּן לָא יִתְקָרְבוּן וְעַמָא לָא יִסְקוּן עִמֵהּ: Moshe alone shall approach [the Presence of] [before] Adonoy, but they must not approach, and the people must not go up with him.”
וַאֲתָא משֶׁה וְאִשְׁתָּעִי לְעַמָא יָת כָּל פִּתְגָמַיָא דַיְיָ וְיָת כָּל דִינַיָא וַאֲתֵיב כָּל עַמָא קָלָא חַד וַאֲמָרוּ כָּל פִּתְגָמַיָא דִי מַלִיל יְיָ נַעְבֵּד: Moshe came and told the people all the words of Adonoy, and all the laws. The people responded with one voice and said, “All the words that Adonoy has spoken, we will do.”
וּכְתַב משֶׁה יָת כָּל פִּתְגָמַיָא דַיְיָ וְאַקְדֵם בְּצַפְרָא וּבְנָא מַדְבְּחָא בְּשִׁפּוֹלֵי טוּרָא וְתַרְתָּא עֶשְׂרֵי קָמָן לִתְרֵי עֲסַר שִׁבְטַיָא דְיִשְׂרָאֵל: Moshe wrote down all the words of Adonoy. He arose early in the morning, and built an altar beneath [at the foot of] the mountain, and [also] twelve monuments [pillars] for the twelve tribes of [the B’nei] Yisrael.
וּשְׁלַח יָת בּוּכְרֵי בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְאַסִיקוּ עֲלָוָן וְקָרִיבוּ נִכְסַת קוּדְשִׁין קֳדָם יְיָ תּוֹרִין: He sent the youths [first-born] of B’nei Yisrael and they offered burnt-offerings, and sacrificed oxen as peace-offerings to [before] Adonoy.
וּנְסִיב משֶׁה פַּלְגוּת דְמָא וְשַׁוִי בְּמִזְרְקַיָא וּפַלְגוּת דְמָא זְרַק עַל מַדְבְּחָא: Moshe took half the blood and put it in the basins, and [the other] half the blood he sprinkled on the altar.
וּנְסִיב סִפְרָא דִקְיָמָא וּקְרָא קֳדָם עַמָא וַאֲמָרוּ כֹּל דִי מַלִיל יְיָ נַעְבֵּד וּנְקַבֵּל: He then took the Book of the Covenant, and read it in the ears of [before] the people. They said, “All that Adonoy has spoken, we will do and we will listen [obey].”
וּנְסִיב משֶׁה יָת דְמָא וּזְרַק עַל מַדְבְּחָא לְכַפָּרָא עַל עַמָא וַאֲמַר הָא דֵין דָם קְיָמָא דִגְזַר יְיָ עִמְכוֹן עַל כָּל פִּתְגָמַיָא הָאִלֵין: Moshe then took the blood and cast it on the [Altar to atone on behalf of the] people, and he said, “Behold, this is the blood of the covenant which Adonoy has made with you regarding all these words.”
וּסְלֵיק משֶׁה וְאַהֲרֹן נָדָב וַאֲבִיהוּא וְשִׁבְעִין מִסָבֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל Moshe and Aharon then went up along with Nadav and Avihu, and seventy of the elders of [the B’nei] Yisrael.
וַחֲזוֹ יָת יְקַר אֱלָהָא דְיִשְׂרָאֵל וּתְחוֹת כָּרְסָא יְקָרֵהּ כְּעוֹבַד אֶבֶן טָבָא וּכְמֶחֱזֵי שְׁמַיָא לְבָרִירוּ: They saw [a vision of] the [Glory of the] God of Yisrael, and under His feet [the throne of His Glory] [there was something] like a brickwork of sapphire [precious stone], and it was like the essence [image] of heaven in purity.
וּלְרַבְרְבֵי בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לָא הֲוָה נִזְקָא וַחֲזוֹ יָת יְקָרָא דַיְיָ וַהֲווֹ חָדָן בְּקָרְבָּנֵיהוֹן דְאִתְקַבָּלוּ בְּרַעֲוָא כְּאִלוּ אָכְלִין וְשָׁתָן: But against the nobility of the B’nei Yisrael, He [God] did not send His hand [there was no damage]. They envisioned [saw the Glory of] God, and they [rejoiced in their sacrifices which were accepted graciously as if they] ate and drank.
וַאֲמַר יְיָ לְמשֶׁה סַק לִקֳדָמַי לְטוּרָא וֶהֱוֵי תַמָן וְאֶתֵּן לָךְ יָת לוּחֵי אַבְנָא וְאוֹרַיְתָא וְתַפְקֶדְתָּא דִכְתָבִית לְאַלוּפֵיהוֹן: Adonoy then said to Moshe, “Come up to [before] Me to the mountain and remain there. I will give you the tablets of stone, the Torah and the commandment, which I have written [in order] to teach them.”
וְקָם משֶׁה וִיהוֹשֻׁעַ מְשֻׁמְשָׁנֵהּ וּסְלֵיק משֶׁה לְטוּרָא דְאִתְגְלִי עֲלוֹהִי יְקָרָא דַיְיָ: Moshe and Yehoshua, his attendant, set out, but [only] Moshe went up to the mountain [upon which the Glory] of God [was revealed].
וּלְסָבַיָא אֲמַר אוֹרִיכוּ לָנָא הָכָא עַד דִנְתוּב לְוָתְכוֹן וְהָא אַהֲרֹן וְחוּר עִמְכוֹן מָן דְאִית לֵהּ דִינָא יִתְקְרֵב לִקֳדָמֵיהוֹן: He [Moshe] said to the elders, “Wait here for us until we return to you, and Aharon and Chur will be with you. Whoever has a claim can approach [before] them.”
וּסְלֵק משֶׁה לְטוּרָא וַחֲפָא עֲנָנָא יָת טוּרָא: Moshe went up to the mountain, and the cloud covered the mountain.
וּשְׁרָא יְקָרָא דַיְיָ עַל טוּרָא דְסִינַי וַחֲפָהִי עֲנָנָא שִׁתָּא יוֹמִין וּקְרָא לְמשֶׁה בְּיוֹמָא שְׁבִיעָאָה מִגוֹ עֲנָנָא: The glory of Adonoy rested on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it for six days. On the seventh day, He called to Moshe from the midst of the cloud.
וְחֵיזוּ יְקָרָא דַיְיָ כְּחֵיזוּ אֶשָׁא אָכְלָא בְּרֵישׁ טוּרָא לְעֵינֵי בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל: The appearance of Adonoy’s glory was like [the appearance of] a consuming flame at the top to the mountain; before the eyes of the B’nei Yisrael.
וְעַל משֶׁה בְּגוֹ עֲנָנָא וּסְלֵיק לְטוּרָא וַהֲוָה משֶׁה בְּטוּרָא אַרְבְּעִין יְמָמִין וְאַרְבְּעִין לֵילָוָן: And Moshe came into the midst of the cloud. and went up into the mountain. Moshe remained on the mountain for forty days and forty nights.
