מרח to rub, smear.
    — Qal - מָרַח he rubbed, anointed (a hapax legomenon in the Bible, occurring Is. 38:21).
    — Niph. - נִמְרַח 1 was smeared over; 2 was crushed.
    — Pi. - מֵרַח 1 he smeared; 2 he smoothed (a pile of grain).
    — Pu. - מֹרַח 1 was smeared over; 2 was smoothed (said of a pile of grain).
    — Nith. - נִתְמָרַח 1 was smeared over; 2 was smoothed (said of a pile of grain). [Aram. מְרַח (= he rubbed, smeared), Arab. maraḫa (= he rubbed, oiled, anointed), marḫ (= wood by whose rubbing fire is produced).] Derivatives: מֶרַח, מָרוֹחַ, מָרוּחַ, מְרִיחָה, מִמְרָח, מִמְרַחַת.
