קנא to be jealous; to be zealous; to be envious.
    — Pi. - קִנֵּא 1 was jealous; 2 was zealous; 3 was envious; 4 he suspected (his wife) of adultery.
    — Hith. - הִתְקַנֵּא 1 was jealous; 2 was envious.
    — Hiph. - הִקְנִיא he excited one’s jealousy. [Related to JAram. and Syr. קַנֵּא, Ethiop. qan’a (= was jealous, was zealous), Ugar. qn’ (= to have zeal), iqnu (= I am zealous), and prob. also with Arab. qana’a (= became or was intensely red).] Derivatives: קַנָּא, קִנְאָה, קַנַּאי, קַנָּאִי, קַנְאָן, קִנּוּי.
