חמק to turn away, slip away.
    — Qal - חָמַק he turned away, slipped away.
    — Hith. - הִתְחַמֵּק he turned hither and thither.
    — Hiph. - הֶחֱמִיק he caused to slip away, hid.
    — Hoph. - הֻחְמַק was slipped away, was hidden. [cp. Arab. ḥamiqa and ḥamuqa (= he was foolish).] Derivatives: חוֹמְקָנִי, חַמּוּק, חֲמַקְמַק, חַמֽקָן, חֲמַקֽתָּנִי, הִתְחַמּֽקוּת, מַחֲמָק.
