כרר to move to and fro, to turn about, to jump, to roll. — Pilp. - כִּרְכֵּר he danced (lit. ‘whirled’). [Ugar. krkr (= to intertwine the fingers), Arab. karra (= he returned, repeated, attached anew), karkara (= he repeated, did repeatedly), kura (= globe, sphere, ball), Ethiop. karkara (= he rolled), makarkar (= turning a mill), Akka. karru (= handle). The orig. meaning of כרר prob. was ‘to be round’. It is the base of כִּכָּר ᴵ, כִּכָּר ᴵᴵ and כִּכָּר ᴵᴵᴵ. cp. the related bases כור, כרה ᴵ, כרך. cp. also כַּר ᴵᴵᴵ.] Derivatives: כִּרְכּוּר, כִּרְכָּר, perhaps also כִּרְכָּרָה.
