תשוקתו ב' במסורה הכא ואידך אני לדודי ועלי תשוקתו. והוא שאמרו חז"ל ב' תשוקות הן תשוקתן של רשעים לעבירה שנאמר ואליך תשוקתו ותשוקתו של הקדוש ברוך הוא על ישראל שנאמר אני לדודי ודודי לי ועלי תשוקתו: The word "תשוקתו" in this context means "his desire." Another interpretation is "his urge." The verse in Genesis 4:7 is saying, "His desire is toward you, but you must master it." In the Midrash, it is explained that there are two desires: the desire of the wicked for sin, as it says "and to you shall be his desire," and the desire of the Holy One, blessed be He, for the people of Israel, as it says "I am my beloved's, and my beloved is mine; he feeds among the lilies."
