‘From the pickled’, he is forbidden only pickled vegetables38Normally “pickling” only vegetables. In the second sentence, anything pickled is forbidden, whether it is of the kind usually covered by the verb or not. The other Mishnaiot are treated similarly.. ‘That I shall not taste anything pickled’, he is forbidden everything pickled.
‘From the scalded’ he is forbidden only scalded meat, the words of Rebbi Jehudah39In the Babylonian Mishnah, this is missing and the entire Mishnah is anonymous. It is found in הילכות הרא״ש.. ‘That I shall not taste anything scalded’, he is forbidden everything scalded.
‘From the roast’ he is forbidden only roasted meat, the words of Rebbi Jehudah. ‘That I shall not taste anything roasted’, he is forbidden everything roasted.
