Ibn Ezra on Leviticus 26:45

וזכרתי להם. לעולם: BUT I WILL FOR THEIR SAKES REMEMBER. Forever.

ברית ראשונים. זאת הברית הכרותה בסיני וקרא זה הדור ראשונים כנגד הבנים שיגלו בארץ אויביהם ויש אומרים על אבות העולם. וטעם אשר הוצאתי אתם. אותם שנשבעתי לאבותם להוציא בניהם מעבדות והראשון נכון בעיני: THE COVENANT OF THEIR ANCESTORS.¹⁴³Hebrew, rishonim (literally, the first). The reference is to the covenant made at Sinai. Scripture refers to this generation as “the first,”¹⁴⁴At first glance “the first” should refer to the patriarchs. in contrast to their descendants who will be exiled in the land of their enemies. Some say that the reference is to the “patriarchs of the world,”¹⁴⁵Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. and the meaning of whom I brought forth¹⁴⁶God did not take the patriarchs out of Egypt. is those to whom I swore that I would free their children from slavery. The first interpretation appears to me to be the correct one.
